Most of you probably have a website for your practice or busines, (if you haven't - then you need to get one!) but it doesn't hurt every now and then to step back and take an objective look.

Your website should be giving your current clients and potential clients all the information they need about your practice as well as the services you offer.  The way your website looks is important but it must also be functional - here  are six things you really should have on your website - can you tick all the boxes?

  1. Intuitive navigation - KISS (keep it simple stupid!)
  2. Sticky content - no that doesn't mean your kids have been using your computer again but refers to the quality of your content - what is going to make people 'stick around' on your practice website? What is your best content and how are you drawing attention to it?
  3. A blog - your practice blog is the opportunity to demonstrate your expertise and is so important because it adds fresh high quality content to your web page - just what search engines look for!  There are so many things you could blog about: an interesting case you've seen; a reminder to keep an eye out for ticks/fleas, etc.; a new product or service you are introducing, etc.
  4. Your address, phone number and contact details - d'oh - an obvious one but do you also advertise your Facebook Page, Twitter acount and LinkedIn page?  Add a Google map to make it even easier to find you.
  5. Reviews - encourage reviews and even proactively seek them, online reviews are only going to become more and more important to your clients.
  6. Calls to action - what do you want your clients to do when they visit your site? If it's educate them - then direct them to your resources, articles & blogs. Just make sure your calls to action are clear and obvious.

These are all fairly simple points to check and keep on top of - so what's stopping you?
