Vnca Letter From The President

A letter from the Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia,National President, Jacque …

Calling All Veterinary Nurses!

Dear VNCA member

You may or may not be aware but the VNCA is comprised of volunteers, either current or former veterinary nurses who are passionate about their profession and want to make a difference to those nurses around them and the industry as a whole. In fact, our vision is to aspire to continue to work to actively engage all Veterinary Nurses to deliver on our mission.

What is the VNCA’s Mission I hear you ask?

Our Mission is to:

  • Serve as a voice for all Veterinary Nurses
  • Protect the professionalism of Veterinary Nurses
  • Promote the value of Veterinary Nurses as vital in delivering quality Veterinary care
  • Advocate for increased recognition of Veterinary Nurses across Australia
  • Support Veterinary Nurses through the provision of continuing education and networking opportunities
  • Strengthen the position of Veterinary Nurses across the Veterinary Industry

This mission is not an easy one to undertake. We rely on VNCA memberships to help fund the costs of providing our member benefits such as the HR Hotline, the AVNJ, which is a wholesome source of technical and self-development articles, and facilitate networking, community and education resources.

When you join the VNCA, your membership means that you become a part of our whole. You join our community that not only cares about Veterinary Nursing but promotes its place within our society and its continued advancement through the involvement in the writing or revision of training packages, the Award and State Legislation.

A lot of activity occurs behind the scenes that you may not necessarily be aware of but we always direct this activity to your benefit.

Despite our best efforts we still need your help to promote our membership to your peers and I encourage you to support the VNCA, as we are the organisation that supports you.

You are most welcome to attend committee meetings, education events including our online e-CPD (for those members who may be live in regional and remote locations) and engage with us through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Of course, we are also happy if you just want to pick up the phone or drop us an email .

So please, next time a new nurse joins your clinic team let them know about the VNCA and encourage them to join.

Next time someone looks over your shoulder at your AVNJ – let them know they can have a copy too – if they sign up to the VNCA.

Next time you hear a fellow nurse contemplating whether or not to renew their membership please remind them of the benefits of their membership and the work the VNCA does to advance the Veterinary Nursing profession.

And remember, VNCA membership is not restricted to Certificate IV Nurses. We have an Associate membership for those members who are currently studying or working within our industry.

I know that with your help, together we can create the change necessary to continue on the path of progression for this amazing and necessary profession we are all fortunate to be a part of.

Warm regards,
