Forward Booking Results 6

The results are in! Do you Forward Book in your veterinary practice?

A few weeks ago I wrote a blog post on forward booking: Forward Booking at your veterinary practice? Seriously..why wouldn't you? It seems like a no-brainer to me - after all dentists do it so well that we don't even question it!

So I thought I'd throw it out there to the Vetanswers Community with an online survey asking:

The Question:

Do you use forward booking (scheduling your client’s next visit before they leave the practice) for ALL visits?  This includes progress exams as well as wellness/preventative care appointments.

The Responses:

Yes, all the time: 9%

Yes most of the time: 55%

No we don’t forward book: 36%

The Comments:

If you don't forward book - why not?

  • Because we have never thought to do it
  • Seen as too hard by front staff
  • Certain things we rebook for but not all visits. Something that I'll be changing
  • We do for rechecks but forward booking 6 months in advance- clients would forget and we would end up with constant no-shows. Might be more effective when we start our sms appointment reminders.

So what?

While it was a fairly small sample size the results are still interesting. 36% of respondents have a huge business opportunity ahead of them if they can successfully introduce Forward Booking and 55% of respondents also have an business oppoortunity if they can just tighten up their protocols.

Congratulations to the 9% who have managed to get it right!
