What do you think are the big trends shaping up in 2013 for the Australian pet industry?

‘High Pet and Vet Convention Season Yields Five Top Pet Trends to Watch’ (25/3/2013) blog post from Vetstreet listed these five top pet trends in the US:

  1. Humanization – more people treating their pets as family members
  2. Keeping Tabs on Tabby – pet cams, GPC devices and activity trackers
  3. Feeding Fluffy Right – lots of new pet foods, grain free, raw diets, “natural”
  4. Flea and Tick Products Go Retro – more topical parasiticides & even the return of a flea & tick collar
  5. Financing Fido’s Healthcare – owners starting to realise pet insurance a necessary part of responsible pet care

Do you think Australia is following the same trends?

Or are there different trends emerging from Australian pet owners?  Share your experiences and thoughts in the comments section below.
