What's cooking tonight? Even vets & vet nurses have to eat!

I decided to take a bit of a risk today ...
And introduce a new series of blog posts that I’ve been thinking about for a while. They won’t exactly be about managing or working in a veterinary practice. In fact they won’t be about veterinary business at all.
They’ll be about ….cooking!
I’m a little nervous about this idea.
I love to cook – mainly because I love to eat - but I know there are many of you out there who either:
- Don’t like cooking,
- Think you can’t cook or
- Don’t think you have the time to cook.
This blog series is for you :)
The food I prefer to cook is easy, simple, fresh and tasty. Many years ago I was lucky to become friends with Kira Westwick who was also into cooking the same sort of food – she was just much better at it than I was. So good in fact that she reached the Top 10 in the 2014 Master Chef Series. Many of the recipes I’ll be sharing will come from Kira’s website but there will also be other favourites that I’ve picked up here and there.
So why am I introducing a recipe blog post to a veterinary business community?
Because I know how long the hours are that many of you work and how often you don’t get time to have lunch let alone a morning or afternoon tea break. I know that it’s not ideal for your physical or mental health to not eat nor is it ideal to quickly shove some stodgy, fast food in your mouth before rushing off to see your next patient. And I know that when you get home from work, cooking may be the last thing you feel like doing. I'm also guessing that many of you may not have time to find good recipes nor have the time to test out what works and what doesn't.
So I figure if I can offer you some easy, tasty and healthy recipes that I've already tested (often many, many times!) you’ve at least got some options to try.
Ok …yes I did use the word ‘healthy’. Yup I admit it… I like to cook healthy food but before you turn away just give these recipes a go. Because that’s another thing I know – healthy food makes you feel good and gives you both physical and mental energy and unhealthy food does the opposite.
Feel free to share
If you’re not the one that does the cooking in your home, please share the recipe with the person who does – or even better, offer to cook it yourself. I promise you that most of the recipes will be easy enough for anyone to cook no matter how experienced they are. Please also share the recipes with your workmates and friends – they may not be interested in the other information we share in the Vetanswers community but everyone is interested in food!
So let me know what you think in the comments section below. Good idea? Bad idea?
