HandicappedPets Australia is the absolute expert at helping pets and their people regain a standard and quality of life. Yes, that is correct for both pets and their people; because I believe pets are family and that elderly, disabled, and handicapped pets deserve to live a happy, healthy life.
There was a day when injured or special needs pets were “no good anymore.” When an animal was hurt, became lame or incontinent, or was for any reason no longer wanted, they were put down.
We are becoming more aware of the sacredness of all life. We are beginning to understand the power of the loving bond that is created when one living thing cares for another.
I have a genuine, palpable passion for helping animals in need become mobile or to help improve their other special needs – and in turn – help their people.
30+ years of Veterinary Nursing experience, encompassing special interests in animal behaviour and communication, gives me a unique ability to read a pet’s needs and understand what will work best for the patient and the owner.
The following words resonant for me and I believe them to be poignant for all species and all forms of medicine:
“Health is a state of physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”
– WHO Constitution, 1948.
I understand pets have become family members and deserve to be loved, respected, and cherished. The purpose and mission of HandicappedPets Australia are to help people understand that there are alternatives to euthanasia. An elderly, disabled, or injured pet can often live a high-quality life for many years if they get the little help they need, such as diapers, a rear-support leash, or a wheelchair.
I gain a great deal of satisfaction and pride when witnessing the joy and sense of relief from owners as they recognise (and cherish) the change in their pet’s demeanour when they become mobile again through the use of a wheelchair. Or when pet owners realise how much easier their life has become from using some of the other tools we provide for senior or infirm pets.
At HandicappedPets Australia, we can make your life easier by providing all the products you need to care for your aging, injured, and special needs pets! The most common reaction we get from people when they hear about what our company offers is, “If only I had known about you before.”
Our bestselling product undoubtedly is the Walkin’ Wheels Wheelchair which has a number of brilliant reasons as to why it’s so much better than our competitors. Aside from the very simple sizing process (just 1 or 2 measurements, the weight of the patient and the breed), it is lightweight, balanced, reliable and moderately priced. It is also the only fully adjustable dog wheelchair that expands in length, width and height which is helpful if your dog is still growing and equally as pets potentially deteriorate. It can also convert from a rear-only wheelchair to a full-support quad cart. Due to its adjustability, it is perfect to help dogs maintain muscle tone, thereby helping maintain current mobility for much longer.
We have also fitted cats, sheep, cattle, ponies and even ducks to their very own wheelchair!
