With a better understanding of diagnostic and treatment options, you’ll be confident to offer more clinical options to your clients and provide comprehensive care to your patients in-house, reducing the need for referral. Additionally, undertaking further training in your chosen discipline can help to advance your career and open up new opportunities.
Our Small Animal Medicine Program is a comprehensive, two-year canine and feline internal medicine program. Designed by leading specialists, with a focus on being clinically relevant to general practitioners, this course will help you to:
✔ Build expertise and confidence in diagnosing & managing complex medicine cases
✔ Strengthen problem-solving & clinical decision-making skills
✔ Improve efficiency through accuracy and timely diagnosis
Let’s explore the career pathways that open up when you enrol in our industry-leading training…
The General Practitioner Certificate (GPCert) is a recognised higher education qualification awarded by the International School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies (ISVPS). The ISVPS has over 20 years of experience in the provision of veterinary postgraduate assessments, qualifications and veterinary course accreditation.
A GPCert(SAM) shows that you have achieved a deeper and more thorough understanding of small animal medicine, which can be applied to general practice. Our program is accredited training for the GPCert(SAM), and by completing the full program and associated ISVPS assessments and examination, you will achieve the globally recognised qualification and associated postnominals.
The Postgraduate Certificate (PgC) is a higher-level qualification than the GPCert. It is awarded in collaboration with ISVPS and Harper Adams University and is a recognised academic qualification demonstrating you have achieved the required standard in your chosen discipline. When you have completed our accredited Small Animal Medicine program and achieved your GPCert, there are additional assessments required for the PgC.
Please contact the ISVPS directly for further information about GP Cert and PgC requirements.
Our courses are accredited CPD for those wishing to achieve Chartered Veterinary Practitioner (CVP) Accreditation with the AVA. To reach CVP status, you must meet the CPD requirements (which is where we come in) before applying for your AVA CVP Accreditation.
Although the learning objectives for this program are designed to meet the requirements of the ISVPS qualifications and are not directly aligned with the ANZCVS Membership examination requirements, several past delegates have used the Small Animal Medicine program as their preparation for Membership exams*
The next intake of our Small Animal Medicine program kicks off in June 2025. If you want to develop a logical, systematic approach to complex cases, whilst working towards a postgraduate qualification, this program has you covered.
