VetNotes was created with a single goal: to help vets spend more time with their families and less time on clinical notes. Many vets stay late and work on weekends just to keep up with their notes. As the son of two vets, I witnessed this first-hand and initially set out just to help my mum and dad get home sooner, but it quickly took off, and VetNotes was born.
If you’re unfamiliar with VetNotes, it is automatic note-taking software for vets. Its concept is simple: it records audio, extracts the clinical information from the transcript, and then formats it into a complete clinical note.
Some vets use VetNotes during consults with clients. They start recording (on a phone, tablet, or computer) and proceed with the consult as normal. VetNotes listens for symptoms, physical exam findings, diagnoses, and any treatments – and will ignore any chit chat.
Other vets record quick voice notes (dictations) after seeing a patient. You might not have time to sit down and type out your notes before your next consult, but you can record a quick verbal summary instead—e.g., “I just saw Fluffy with symptoms ABC and on exam found XYZ”—is efficient. In 1-2 minutes, you can quickly dictate any relevant information, and VetNotes then transcribes the recording and re-formats the information into your notes. VetNotes will also cut out any “ums” or “ahs”, and you don’t need to say everything in the perfect order – just do a “brain dump” of everything you’d like in the note.
For vets who use a template for their notes, VetNotes can also handle this with ease. Simply upload your template, and VetNotes will write in your style and format.
Software companies almost always fall into a common trap, and we see it throughout veterinary software today.
They’re founded by tech people, so they build complex and advanced software, but in doing so, they lose sight of where it all began—the users.
Vets are far too busy to learn yet another piece of software. So, from day one, VetNotes has focused heavily on a super easy user experience. It’s dead simple: just record audio and have your notes written.
It doesn’t do much else—but this focus is VetNotes’ superpower—and the focus is helping vets get home on time. Getting set up takes about 5 minutes. No need to book a demo, just sign up directly at VetNotes.com. There’s no need for further training or configuration; you can hop straight in and test it out.
Booked with back-to-back consults? No worries. VetNotes is like a little scribe that takes notes for you. So when you get a chance to catch your breath and write up some cases, instead of staring at a blank screen, your notes will already be done!
