Vetme provides FREE volunteer listings for animal and veterinary charities & not-for-profits – Forever!
If you’re part of a veterinary charity, wildlife group, or animal-focused not-for-profit, you’re probably juggling limited resources, growing demand, and an endless to-do list. Finding reliable volunteer help is often on that list, but not always easy to prioritise or promote.
That’s where Vetme comes in: we offer FREE volunteer job listings for veterinary and animal charities — forever.
To help make things a little easier, Vetme offers FREE job listings for volunteer positions.
Registered charities and not-for-profit organisations can list volunteer roles on Vetme completely free of charge — and this is a permanent feature of Vetme.
No fees. No fine print. Just a simple way to connect with people in the veterinary community who want to help.
Why we’re doing this
Vetme was created to offer a fairer, more supportive job board for the veterinary industry, and that includes supporting the people and organisations doing important work behind the scenes.
Animal charities, wildlife carers, mobile desexing programs, education teams — they’re all part of the same community. But while their impact is big, their budgets often aren’t.
By offering free volunteer listings, we hope to make it easier for these organisations to find the help they need, and for vet professionals (and students) to find ways to give back or gain experience.
Volunteer roles you can list on Vetme
If your charity or NFP needs volunteer support, you can now post roles like:
- Vet nurses or vets for events or programs
- Volunteer support at adoption or fundraising days
- Foster carers or transport drivers
- Help with admin, marketing, or social media
- Wildlife rescue or care assistance
- Or anything else that supports your work
If the role is unpaid and supports a registered charity or NFP, you can list it for free.
How it works
We’ve made it as simple as possible:
- Contact me for your special code: judyg@vetme.com.au
- Sign up as an Employer at https://www.vetme.com.au/user-login/
- On your Employer’s Dashboard, click ‘Post a New Job’
- Complete Job Details:
- Job Sector: Select ‘Charity/NFP’
- Job Type: Select ‘Volunteer’
- Salary: Select “Hourly” and add $1 in both the Min and Max boxes (unfortunately, the system doesn’t allow for $0)
- Click the purple ‘Select Package’ button
- Select ‘Job Listing’ and ‘Update Package’
- Click ‘Have a Coupon’, fill in your coupon code and click ‘Apply Coupon’
- Click ‘Place order’
Your listing will appear alongside all other job ads, so it’s easy for people to find. ‘Volunteer’ positions have their own blue label and can be searched for in both the Job Type and the Sector search boxes.
We’ll also promote your Volunteer Listings on our social and encourage you to do the same so everyone knows where to look for volunteer positions.
Make use of our Employer Profiles
Even when you’re not actively looking for volunteers, you can still have a presence on the Vetme website by filling in your Vetme Employer Profile – check out the Vets For Climate Action profile as an example.
Why? Because Vetme users (including vets, nurses, students and practice managers) can follow your charity, which means they’ll be automatically notified whenever you post a new listing. That could mean the difference between scrambling to fill a spot last minute and finding the right person as soon as you hit ‘Publish’.
Having a complete Employer Profile also:
- Gives potential volunteers more context about who you are and what you do
- Helps you build visibility across the Vetme platform
- Adds credibility to your listings
- Lets you include links to your website, social channels, or donation pages
- Makes your organisation easier to find (yes, it could even help with SEO)
Think of your profile as a mini home page on Vetme — free to use, and full of potential.
Even if you only recruit volunteers a few times a year, it’s a great way to stay connected with the Vetme community. So if you’re involved with an animal charity or wildlife group, we’d love to see your profile up and running.
To set up your Profile, log in to your Employer Dashboard, click ‘Company Profile’ on the left-hand menu and complete all the details.
More than just a listing — we’ll help share your story
We know charities are busy, so we’re putting together a Charity Spotlight blog series — short Q&As that highlight your organisation, what you do, and how people can help.
All you have to do is answer a few simple questions, and we’ll take care of the rest. It’s a great way to raise awareness, attract support, and share your story with the broader veterinary community.
If you’re interested, get in touch and we’ll send you the form.
Help us spread the word
We know there are so many groups out there doing good work quietly, and we’d love to support more of them.
If you’re involved with an animal charity, rescue group, wildlife shelter or community vet program, please let them know about this feature. It could save them time, money, and help them connect with the passionate people already in our industry who are ready to lend a hand.
Please share this blog post with them. Whether they need one volunteer or ten, we’d love to help.
This feature is available now — and it’s here to stay.
