Over 200 respondents from the veterinary industry were asked seven questions about the key challenges they faced, their experiences and what they feel the industry trends will be in 2023. 70% of respondents were from Australia and New Zealand, and 30% were from the UK and Ireland.

What are the Top Challenges for 2023?
Unsurprisingly, the global veterinary shortage continues to be a prevailing theme and was one of the top 3 challenges identified by the respondents.
The other top two challenges identified were: Staff recruitment/retention and Mental health.
“But beyond the pressure of demand and its impact on sufficient staff resources, national and local events such as the current cost of living crisis also mean mental health, stress levels, burnout and wages are the top things veterinary practices are really worried about.”
