Is there competition for veterinary staff in your area?
There is in mine.
A massive, brand-spanking new clinic is being built nearby and my lead nurse lives there.
Will she leave me and travel 10 minutes to work or keep doing the 40 minutes to our clinic?
Looks pretty obvious, doesn’t it?
I do not want to lose her.
Her work ethic is fantastic, and her knowledge and ability superb.
She has the patience of a saint and the ability to train our new team members to the highest level. They all revere her.
There’s only one way to find out…
Well, the best way to get an answer to that question is to ask her.
So I did. Our nurse said, “My partner and I have discussed this. He says, and I totally agree with him, why would I leave here? We plan to have a family in the future and if I stay at High Street Veterinary Surgery, I know you’ll treat me well and that I’ll be looked after.
If I move, I don’t know how I’ll be treated.”
Well, relief all around! I’m proud that we have something special at High Street Veterinary Surgery and each team member wants to be here.
Now for the big questions…
Is this your team’s attitude?
Will they stay with you?
Would you like to be able to build a culture in your practice like this too?
Would you like to have team members who say no to other clinics?
I’d be happy to have a chat with you to talk about recruiting vets and vet nurses and building a culture where they want to stay. You can email me at director@smoothoperatingvets.com
