Whether you are a newcomer to equine dentistry, are largely self-taught, and have been bumbling along doing them, or even if you walked away from equine practice due to burnout and lack of work-life balance, please read on.
In just 3 weeks’ time, March 4-9, 2024, the EVDS team of 10, aided by 10 awesome tutors from all walks of life and stages in their careers, will gather in Grafton, NSW, to deliver the most successful postgraduate workshop for equine vets in Australia’s history.
Having hosted over 1050 vets at over 55 events over the past 22 years, EVDS knows how to deliver value, with 98% of registrants rating this workshop as excellent or very good value for money.
And now we are looking to fill the final 4 seats at the only Equine Dentistry workshop in Australia until 2025!
You may ask, “What can equine dentistry do for me?”
There are so many layers of benefits, and our workshop team of 11 tutors will be there to explain to you and 29 other vets how this specialized and underserviced line of work has allowed them to flourish, no matter what stage they are in their careers.
Whether they graduated 5 years ago or are now practicing in their semi-retirement years, having mastered the art and science of equine dentistry, these tutors will take you by the hand and share their passion for this amazingly exciting field of equine dentistry – which also incorporates medicine and surgery.
Having this skill is a massive bonus for you, as there are cases EVERYWHERE that horses are! And clients WILL pay for great service!
Knowing what you are doing and how to identify and explain dental pathologies to owners will see your caseload grow exponentially.
Developing skills in equine dentistry will give you the edge in getting the job you want. It will also allow you to be able to work part-time in many practices, as it is a schedulable service where you will never get bored, never stop being challenged, and never run out of work if you find the passion it brings!
It can give you the flexibility to step out of practice to raise a family and then re-enter with valuable skills that serve and are desired by horse owners.
If you are considering starting your own practice or want to grow your current mixed or equine practice, we have dozens of stories about how vets in Australia and NZ have embraced equine dentistry and succeeded in these endeavours.
Equine dentistry will free you of dodgy clients who only want to see a vet for emergencies and give you the potential to earn income that you never dreamt of.
It will allow you to DESIGN YOUR LIFE, to continue working on horses – but on YOUR TERMS – and not leave you thrown to the wolves, depending on unfortunate emergencies at any hour of the night and day to keep your life in a cycle of chaos and burnout!
Our team is ready to discuss how to assist you or your employees to be able to afford to attend this event with 6 massive days of full immersion in everything about horses’ teeth, plus sponsored social dinners every night where you can network and make friends and colleagues for life!
We can offer you ways to get here, including payment plans, carpooling, room sharing, and even extending the early bird discount to get you here!
Please email us at events@evds.net.au or phone our team on +61 2 66 424 700 if you really want to make it to this special event but have concerns or roadblocks in making it happen!
And if you can’t reach a deal with your employer or employee, consider something like this:
Because this is a skill for one’s whole career, and it will stay with the vet whether they stay at the current employer or not, we believe the cost should ultimately be shared and paid for by the horse owners.
So how about negotiating something like this:
Employee and employer share the cost of the course/travel/accommodation – say 50/50? But once the employee reaches 12 months of doing dentals in that clinic after the workshop, they are reimbursed 20% of the costs by the employer. Once another 12 months of service is delivered, then the remaining 30% of the costs will be reimbursed.
You can play around with the percentages, but it needs to be a WIN-WIN for all parties, including the happy, satisfied horse owners and, ultimately, the horses!
So don’t wait another minute, as this workshop nearly always fills up! And the price will go up next year with inflation!
You can watch an online lecture until you are blue in the face, but the reality is that you will then need to go practice on a cadaver and live horses to avoid making painful and embarrassing mistakes.
In this course, we take you on a journey to master the fundamentals of dentistry! You will hear and see it in the lecture or tutorial, practice on dry skulls and cadavers, and spend the last 2 days on live horses. And at all times, have the benefit of a generous, supportive, and experienced tutor by your side, helping you at every turn.
This events formula is by far the most rapid and direct way to gain both CONFIDENCE AND COMPETENCE in any field, especially equine dentistry!
Your life is not a dress rehearsal!
Get close to those who are living their best lives and learn tips on how they’ve achieved it!
Along with the EVDS Team and tutors, I really look forward to hosting you and giving you the experience of an educational event you will never forget!
Hope to see you there,
Oli
